Performance

A supplementary feed that ensures the intake of high-quality protein and fibre in all horses. As a result of a patented natural process (Supplementary Protection Certificate (SPC)), the GROOV Performance feed includes properties that allow for an accelerated normalization of the fluid balance and recovery following exercise.
Always give your horse access to forage before giving it its concentrate feed and try to spread the concentrate feed over several meals a day.

Feeding guide

A suitable feed should be based on the nutritional value of the forage feed, level of performance and growth and whether the horse is in foal or lactating.

A guideline for an adult horse involved in light work is approx. 0.8 kg of coarse feed/100 kg horse and 1-1.5 kg dry hay/haylage/100 kg horse.

RAW MATERIALS

OATS (SPC)

SPC oats are naturally processed oats without any additives. This special patented process has proven to have a positive effect on the fluid regulation in horses as well as in humans and other species through the activation of the body's own regulatory functions. The nutritional properties gained in connection with the process leads to a quicker recovery of the fluid balance following high-level performance or diarrhoea.

WHEAT BRAN

Wheat bran consists mostly of hulls and fragments of wheat that remain once the starchy kernel has been removed and as a result, contains less starch and more fiber than whole wheat. Wheat bran has good dietary qualities and is rich in B vitamins. Wheat bran has a high phosphorous content which is hard to digest for the horse.

OAT BRAN

Oat bran is, in fact, the bran of de-husked oats. It is known for its good dietary properties and high content of plant fibers and so-called beta-glucans.

ALFALFA

The lucerne is a leguminous plant characterised by its high content of good quality protein and crude fiber. It is a drought-resistant plant that delivers up to three harvests. It is sometimes referred to as alfalfa. Lucerne is often included as a raw material in factory produced equine feeds and is also available to purchase as a raw material in the form of LUCERNE Chopped, LUCERNE Pellets and LUCERNE Pure Pellets. LUCERNE Chopped and LUCERNE Pellets contain molasses while LUCERNE Pure Pellets is completely free of added molasses.

BEET PULP

Pressed beet pulp is a product from the sugar industry that is high in fiber but low in sugar without any added molasses. It has a high content of easily degradable fibers, especially pectin, and is free of starch, contributing to a high-energy content while promoting a balanced microflora in the gut of the horse. It also contains relatively large amounts of lysine, an essential amino acid.

WHEAT

Wheat has high contents of energy and protein but the protein is of mediocre quality and hence, not ideal for young horses. Wheat is a little sticky, a binding characteristic used in the production of pellets (together with molasses).

MOLASSES

Sugar beet molasses is a high-energy by-product of the sugar industry. It is highly palatable and a natural binding agent in the production of pellets.

OATS (HIGH IN FAT)

Oats (high-fat oats) constitute the best cereal based feed for horses as highly palatable while at the same time providing a good source of energy in the form of fat, starch, crude fibre, high-quality protein and kernels that are easy for the horse to digest and chew. There is a variety of oats with different coloured husks in white (whitish yellow, to be exact), yellow and black. The colour of the oat husk, which varies from variety to variety, is not, however, an indication of the nutritional value of the oat. In Sweden, the production of oats consists mainly of the white oat variety. There is also a considerable difference in the fat content of various oat varieties. High-fat oats, for example, contain more than twice the amount of fat compared to regular oats.

GREEN MEAL

Like the alfalfa (lucerne), green meal has a high content of high-quality protein and crude fiber. Green meal and alfalfa combined result in a very palatable feed. In order to yield an optimum crop of the highest quality, the grass is usually harvested 3-4 times a year, depending on the weather.

POTATO PROTEIN

Potato protein is, as the name indicates, protein derived from potatoes. Potato protein is a high-quality protein with a high content of the essential (vital) amino acids - methionine and lysine. Also, compared to other protein-rich feeds, potato protein is a highly digestible feed which allows the horse to absorb and benefit from most of the potato protein it eats. Potato protein is an essential ingredient in our products.

SODIUM CHLORIDE

Sodium chloride, i.e. common salt, is used for adding salt to the feed.

RAPESEED OIL

Contains rapeseed oil made from rapeseed - a high-energy starch-free feed that adds energy in concentrated form.
